vivo Launches OriginOS 3 With AI Functions

Share
Announced on November 8, vivo unveiled its new Android 13-based Origin OS 3 during the annual developers’ conference. Based on reports, vivo focuses on the upgrade of achieving unprecedented silky lightness and long-lasting smoothness in OriginOS 3. In order to achieve the ultimate fluency, vivo has launched an AI framework which includes – the breakthrough of basic capabilities, resource scheduling optimization, and an upgrade of upper visual and control perception striving to ensure the smoothness of the user experience in all aspects.
In terms of the underlying basic capabilities, vivo also focuses on the three core technology points of computing, storage, and display. Last year, vivo added parallel numeration ability to the OriginOS core. This year, in terms of storage, the new system adds a variety of algorithms such as application grouping, data compression, memory aggregation, and more. Adding an extra 8GB RAM to the original memory is the updated 3.0 version of this part. Based on vivo’s tests, on a mobile phone with 12G memory, the maximum number of background applications can reach up to 34 apps.
In addition, in order to solve the common problem that mobile phones will become slower and slower after long-term use, vivo has brought three new features this year on the basis of the industry’s first full-scenario lasting smoothness launched last year. These features include mobile phone health, file system defragmentation, and anti-aging model upgrade. With the mobile phone health function, users can view statistics on storage and battery condition. At the same time, vivo once again took the lead in upgrading the anti-aging standard of the Telecom Terminal Industry Association, raising the five-star standard of “anti-aging” effect to 48 months.
In the dimension of resource scheduling optimization in the middle layer, vivo has rewritten the computing power scheduling algorithm in the Linux kernel that has been running for more than 30 years and rewritten the original foreground and background fair scheduling algorithm into an unfair scheduling algorithm, so that the computing power and other system resources are tilted to the foreground, ensuring the smooth operation of the foreground, while the background process will not preempt, disturb and block the foreground process. With OriginOS 3, if the system has to shut down a whitelisted app due to insufficient memory, it will record the last state of the app and once the user returns, nothing will be lost, especially when you watch a video or read the news.
In the dimension of upper vision and manipulation perception, vivo has also made a breakthrough. In 2020, OriginOS launched Visual Fluency 1.0, which solved the frustration caused by the large visual contrast between frames of system animations by compensating in the UI design process. This year, Visually Smooth 2.0 will recreate the motion blur effect using software algorithms to compensate for the animation process’s incoherence and jerkiness so the mobile phone can display 60 frames. On the application’s startup and shutdown interface, screen fluency is 18.7% better after optimization.
Thee new OriginOS 3 system will be available for internal testing on November 9, and the public beta version will be available in batches in late November 2022.
